FairShares Association Ltd offer a suite of intellectual property (IP) – the FairShares Model – to support the creation and development of solidarity cooperatives under four bodies of law (for companies, cooperatives, associations and partnerships).
The working assumption of the association is that the exclusion of primary stakeholders from social enterprise ownership and governance harms the long-term well-being of the enterprise, its members and their host community. Therefore, the association’s IP (including its model rules) strongly encourage the enfranchisement and participation of four classes of member (Founder, Labour, User, and Investor).
FairShares IP is owned by the member(s) who contribute it.
FairShares is a philosophy for creating and sustaining networks of solidarity enterprises that share power and wealth amongst their entrepreneurs, producers, consumers and investors.
Private businesses contribute to and sustain unacceptable levels of inequality. FairShares is a robust alternative for advocates of social enterprise, the sharing economy and cooperative business.
